“At our age, every conversation includes an organ recital!”
I’ve found that to be true. In the case of our friend and classmate Dianne Pfefferkorn Hobbs, the recital morphed into a book, and a very honest one, about the human brain. In the face of a misdiagnosis of Alzheimer’s, Dianne’s wit, intelligence and humanity shine through, even as she is treated like a statistic by most medical folks. Her radiant smile that we all remember from RJR days – can it possibly be 60+ years ago?? – shines through as well.
Could it be that Dianne got her start in the literary world as a Senior Scribe for the Class of '62?
“Losing my Mind … to Alzheimer’s?” should be on the required reading list for physicians, EMTs, nurses, and anyone who works with or thinks about people our age. You can order it from Amazon.
