I have learned from Jimmy Middleton who is an unbelievably great sleuth when it comes to locating someone, that our classmate and an old friend of mine - Steven Douglas Henley - passed away May 26, 1996 at the young age of 52 years old. Steve was born in 1944 to Louis Herman Henley and Peggy Sue Wall Henley and was a native of Fort Myers, Florida. He was a veteran of the US Navy and was employed by Wayne Stutts Surveyors and a member of the Carraway United Methodist Church. He was an avid fisherman and golfer.
Steve was survived by a son, Shane Jason Henley of Tampa. Florida; a daughter Ginger Payne Wagoner of Huntersville; his father, Louis Henley of Greensboro; his mother, listed as Lillie Ashworth Stanley of Greensboro and a maternal grtandmother, Bonnie Ashworth of Greensboro.
-This is all we know about Steve, but I want to say that back in about the 9th or 10th grade, we visited frequently and he spent the night at least once at my house. I always considered him a friend, but lost contact with him after highschool. Furthermore, I want to say that I am so sorry we did not know about his passing back in 1996. It is so sad that he died so young. I pray that the Lord bless and keep him and holds him closely for all eternity. And, to Steve, if you are up there listening: "Steve, please accept my belated thanks for being my friend."
