I am so sorry to hear about the passing of our dear classmate, Bubba Brockwell...Needless to say, we are in that lucky age group, and I use that adjective because we have been blessed with an amazing time on this earth to share our roots, enjoy our lives, and love our neighbors...I was new to RJR in my eight grade year and knew very few people, but I especially remember meeting a new friend, Bubba, and he immediately made me feel welcomed with his caring personality and warm smile. Reading his obituary, makes me thankful that he lived a full life with his wonderful wife of 58 years and his beautiful extended family, who have been with him until the end. May our good friend rest in peace...
Dear Betty, I am so sorry to hear of Bubba's passing. I remember him fondly as a kind and generous man, as well as an accomplished athlete in high school. I know you will be sustained by your many wonderful memories of your long life together, after meeting each other at Guilford. I'm so glad we were able to meet last year at Dough Joe's in Reynolda Village and catch up on the passing years. It was especially nice getting to meet you and see how what a loving relationship you two enjoyed. I will never forget Bubba. He was a true "character"!
Betty, I am sorry for our loss. I had always hoped that Bubba and "Philmore" and Cliff, and "Oggie" and Reid and Burton Fitts would outlive me, but I got only part of my wish. Another good guy; another great loss.
