I remember Sara as a sweet girl who was friendly to all she met. I'm sorry to hear of her death and am sure she will be missed by her friends and family!
Thanks to Kathy Traylor Sink, i have learned that our classmate, Sara Aspden Cooley has passed away. I will summarize the obituary which was in the WS Journel:
Sara was born on January 13, 1944 and passed away at age 80 on Septmber 13, 2025. She was predeceased by her son, Robert Evans Tuttle; her parents, Arnold and Ruth Aspden; and her sister Susan Overstreet. Surviving are her brother and his wife, Steve and Marion Aspden of Winston Salem, her sister Jane Deal and her husband Richard Briskin of Scottsdale, Arzona, and five nieces.
Sara graduated from R.J. Reynolds High School in 1962 and attended Campbell University. In 1963, she moved to Washinton DC where she worked for six years.
Later, when she returned to Winston Salem, she worked for Wachovia Bank, then for Reynolds America for 25 years before retiring. After retirement, she attended NC Greensboro where she pursued a degree in social work.
Sara was an avid gardener and had a tremendous love for learning. Whe enjoyed volunteer work at the Special Children's School, Crisis Control Ministries, the Emergency Room at Forsyth Hospital and the Premature Infants Ward at Baptist Hospital..
The family wishes to thank the caregivers at Brighton Gardens Assisted Living and Trellis Supportive Care for their attentive and supportive care of Sara. A memorial service will be held at Hayworth Miller - Silas Creek Chapel at a later date.
