Thank you to our classmate, Harriet Nanzetta Clark for calling Janice's death to our attention. We offer our heartfelt condolences to Janice's family as they endure the loss of a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will certainly be missed. May our classmate, Janice Baker Jones rest in peace.
Janice was a real sweet person. Our dads worked together at the Journal-Sentinel, so we were family friends too growing up. Always wondered what happened to her, but did run into her on Facebook a couple years ago. Sounds like she had nice family. Nancy Crews Ash
Janice and I were best friends in high school, along with Cita (Rogers) Pickett '62 and Sandra (Shepherd) Davis '61 . After my family and I moved back to Winston from Santa Fe in ' 90, Janice and I had a wonderful catch-up lunch one afternoon with every intention of getting together again, but that didn't happen. Luckily we were able to reconnect on Facebook where I learned about the farm where she and her husband, Bill, raised Tennessee Walking horses. Janice won many ribbons in horse shows. Later they raised adorable lop-eared bunnies. Always an animal lover, she had a pot-bellied pig at one time, and she even tenderly cared for a rat that she'd won in a raffle! I don't know whether she continued singing as an adult, but she had a gorgeous mezzo soprano voice in high school and was a big fan of Mario Lanza. God's Angel Choir has a new member.
