According to the Winston-Salem Journal obituaries, my long-time friend,Carolyn McKnight Barrow, passed away May 25, 2012.  I will summarize her obituay: 

    Carolyn McKnight Barrow of Madison Ave. Winston Salem, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 25, 2012 at the age of 68.  Ms. Barrow was born on October 25, 1943 to the late Bruce and Elizabeth McKnight. She was preceded in death by her parents.  She is survived by her son, Joe Barrow and his wife Bobbi; two grandchildren, Joe, Jr. and Lilly Virginia, all of Raleight, NC. She is also survived by her sisters Evelyn Sellers and husband Bobby of Winston Salem and Margie Lamb and husband George of Clemmons.  Also surviving are Colleen Ball of Winston Salem and nephews Robert Sellers of Boonville, NC, Matthew Lamb of Raleigh, Mark and John Lamb of Winston Salem.

    Carolyn worked throughout her career as an interior decorator and brightened many homes and businesses across the region with her light and her joy for life.  She also taught interior design at Forsyth Technical Institute.  Carolyn was also the charter president of the Winston Salem chapter of the National Associationof Women in Construction.  She made many life-long friends among her co-workers, students and clients.  Carolyn was a bright and shining light in the lives of her family and friends; her passing leaves a void that will be filled with the memory of her love and laughter.

    Memorials may be directed to the organization of the donor's choice.  A memorial service will be held at 6 pm on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Kelly Morre officiating.   Online condolences may be made at www.  hayworth-miller.com.

I REMEMBER CAROLYN AS A VERY NICE AND FRIENDLY GAL.  SHE PASSED WAY TOO SOON.  MY CONDOLENCES TO THE FAMILY. 

 

I LOST MY HUSBAND, JOE, FIVE YEARS AGO, AND MY MOTHER ON MAY 21 OF THIS YEAR, SO I CERTAINLY SYMPATHIZE WITH YOUR UNTIMELY LOSS OF A DEAR SISTER AND MOTHER.
