I was so sorry to learn about Linda Brown Hailey's passing.  I remember her from high school, but really got to know her better from years later, back when I regularly went to the Central YMCA.  More likely than not, Linda would be at the front desk, and we would always have a nice chat about things.  She was a really nice person and seemed to have a great love for everyone.  She lived a good life and was loved by many.  The RJR Class of 1962 extends its heartfelt condolences to her family and we pray that the good Lord watch over her forever and ever and that Linda rests in peace.

The following is a synopsis of Linda's obituary in the WS Journal on 11/20/2019:

Linda Hailey:   August 5, 1944 - November 17, 2019, 75, a lifelong resident of Winston-Salem, passed away Sunday November 17, 2019 at The Oaks. She was preceded in death by her father, Wade Harold Brown, and her mother, Alta Blakley Brown.  Linda graduated from RJ Reynolds High School and retired from Wlliam G. White YMCA.  Linda is survived by her sister, Susan Brown Reiner; her nephew, Jake Wyeth Reiner; her niece, Magan Reiner Smith (Bryan Smith); her great niece, Avery Smith, and her great nephew, Corbin Smith; and numerous special relatives.

The family would like to thank LInda's supportive friends and the medical staff at The Oaks for her care during her extended illness.

Linda grew up on Walker Ave., the street behind my Hawthorne Rd., and we used to call each other and "meet halfway to walk to the little store" at bottom of hill.  Later to Miller Park, and later to drive to Myrtle Beach with my parents.  She was such a sweet person.  I talked to her on phone again about 5 years ago, saying at first, "I'll met you halfway..."!   I wish I had been closer so I could have seen her more often.  She passed away too early.
