GRANADE CHARLOTTE Barbara Elizabeth Granade June 9, 2014 Barbara Elizabeth Granade, 69, of Charlotte, NC passed away on Monday, June 9, 2014 at Brighton Gardens, Charlotte. A native of Fulton County, GA, she was a daughter of the late Jack Warren Granade, Sr. and Gertrude Phillips Granade. Barbara enjoyed spending time with her family and was an excellent bridge player. She had a special passion for teaching and is a former Teacher of the Year. She taught English and Latin and was a mentor to special needs children. Her interests included spending time at the beach, swimming, reading and she was a big fan of the Atlanta Braves, John Denver and Star Trek. She liked to take life "one day at a time" spending many of those days with her cat, Solomon. She is survived by her nieces, Sarah Wren Granade of Arlington, VA and Ashlyn Granade Neilson and husband Corey of Charlotte; great niece, Cadence Olivia Neilson; great nephew, Cooper Jack Neilson and several cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jack Warren Granade, Jr. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Barbara's name may be made to Alzheimer's Association. A service celebrating Barbara's life will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 24 at Briarlake Baptist Church, Decatur. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. I remember Barbara as being good natured and kind to all.  She had a good sense of humor.  I think the quote she chose to put under senior picture says it all.
